Repeat Prescriptions

Order your repeat prescriptions online.

Repeat prescription requests should be made using the counterfoil from the previous prescription, which can be sent or handed in to the surgery. To avoid errors, requests are not taken over the telephone . Alternatively, you may wish to order your repeat prescriptions online. Contact the surgery to organise registration for this service.

Please allow 3 full working days for the processing of these prescriptions. If you wish a prescription to be sent to you, please enclose a stamped, addressed envelope. Remember to order early at Bank Holiday times, when the surgeries are shut.

All medication should be reviewed on a regular basis by the doctor. When a review is due, a message is stamped on your prescription to remind you to make an appointment to see your doctor. Most medications on “repeat” are prescribed for a period of 28 days. Please book a medication review appointment in plenty of time. The actual date is not crucial, but is a reminder.

Dispensing Services

We can dispense to most patients at the Woodcote Surgery and to some patients of the Goring Surgery, if they live more than a mile from the chemist. This is a statutory limitation. Urgent medicines for these patients are usually available immediately after seeing the doctor but, if not in stock, can be ordered to arrive the next day.

Prescriptions can be collected between the hours of: 8.00 a.m. – 6.30 p.m. Monday to Friday.

Please ask at reception if you need to speak to a member of the dispensary team. Our dispensary team are not available between 1pm-2pm.

If you require medication, as a matter of urgency, outside these times, please call NHS 111.

Please allow 3 full working days for issue of repeat prescriptions.

Policy on 28 day prescribing

Our Practice policy is to prescribe on a monthly basis. The reason for this is to improve the quality and safety of prescribing by encouraging frequent reviews by both the doctors and the dispensers, and to avoid the waste that occurs when medications are changed or when drugs are ordered but are not required. If you feel that you might have exceptional circumstances and would like to request that you receive prescriptions for more than one month, please put your request in writing or email to the Practice Manager, Julia Beasley.
